The exhibition, in Wells Cathedral, will run from 30th July – 28th August.

The Thursday Threads group members are extremely excited to be taking part in this high profile exhibition, especially as it is their first. Thursday Threads is a free-hand sewing course, conducted at The Hive Community Centre in Peasedown St. John with funding via Creativity Works. Participants are residents from Bath & North East Somerset. Story Cloths, or arpilleras as they are known in Chile, are a way to translate our lived experiences into a creative format so that they may be viewed from another perspective. Participants are encouraged to have an open mind and to let the creative process guide them on their stitching journey.

Over the past few months the sharing of stories, skills and creative approaches in the Thursday Threads group has been heart-warming in this friendly and supportive group.

Samantha Hickman artist and art therapist has facilitated a creative and empowering process of Story Cloths which has promoted positive relationships and recovery for group members.

Participants say they have gained self-confidence, increased their sense of resilience, and learnt new skills. The Story Cloths are artworks in themselves each one unique and individually created with connections to personal stories.
