A Midsomer Norton charity shop received a bumper bonus thanks to a partnership with a High Street retailer.

The Barnardo's shop in The Hollies, High Street, recently took part in the national Argos Toy Exchange. The six-week campaign resulted in the local team receiving almost 390 extra bags of donations, estimated to be worth almost £4,000.

Barnardo's Shop Manager, Angie Cruickshank, said: "We are delighted that the Argos Toy Exchange proved to be such a success. Christmas is one of our busiest times, so it was great to receive such a substantial boost to our stock.

"Donations are essential in order to keep our stores trading. All profits from selling these items are ploughed directly into Barnardo's work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children, so we would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who donated."

Argos Managing Director, John Walden, said: "This was the first time that Argos was involved in such a partnership and we were truly delighted by the level of support our colleagues and customers have shown."

The Toy Exchange marked the start of a new partnership between Argos and Barnardo's. It encouraged Argos customers to donate their pre-loved toys at stores across the UK, to be sold through the Barnardo's network of shops.

Donors were awarded a voucher offering money off at Argos, with vouchers valid right up until Christmas Eve.
