Norton St Philip could soon have even more new housing after plans for a further twenty homes were submitted.
Lochailort Investments Ltd. delivered phase one of the Fortescue Fields developments after permission was granted in 2011, building 51 new homes on the former chicken processing factory in Norton St. Philip.
A decision is currently pending on phase two of the development, which would see 27 new homes built across two parcels of land, bordered by Mackley Lane and the B3110 Frome Road. The company has now put forward plans for a further 20 homes to the west of the phase one site, with Mendip District Council expected to make a ruling on the matter in the early-spring.
It is not currently clear whether such a decision will be taken by the Council’s planning board in public or the delegated powers of its planning officers. A decision on a separate development – for 27 homes and a commercial garage on the A366 Bell Hill – is expected around the same time. Daniel Mumby, LDRS
