Charmain Gay, group leader of the ‘Singing Guitars’ (a local U3A Group) was very pleased to hand over a cheque for £540 to Captain Ann Chinye (pictured) in aid of the ‘Salvation Army Christmas Appeal for the Homeless’.
The concert raised this amount at their Christmas Show held recently at the Chilcompton Village Hall on 3rd December, and was made up from donations, a raffle and the sale of refreshments. All the raffle prizes, beverages and home-made cakes were donated by the group to help raise funds for the homeless at these very trying times.
The Guitar Group have been together for almost four years and all worked hard to make this show a success. Since their time together as ‘The Singing Guitars’, they have raised funds for various charities as they enjoy performing and are available to entertain at local events and for charitable fundraising.
