Parish Councillors in Peasedown St John are considering some exciting upgrades to play areas at the Recreation Ground and Beacon Field.
The wooden play equipment on the Recreation Ground is reaching the end of its useful life, and Councillors are looking at options to replace it, including a large basket swing and possibly a youth shelter. They are also planning to upgrade the Millennium Toddler Play Area on the Recreation Ground which, after nearly twenty years of use, is starting to look a little tired. The refurbishment will include a new play surface and some replacement equipment, including multi-ability items.
Councillors are also looking at ways to upgrade the multi-use games area on Beacon Field. Cllr Jo Davis, who is leading the project, said: “Young people using the area have requested a second goal-end, so that they can play a proper game of football or basketball, and this is something we are considering, together with a new play surface, and fencing to keep dogs safely away.”
The Parish Council is in the process of obtaining quotes for this work and hopes that some or all of these improvements can be made before next summer.
