Nine litter pickers gathered last Sunday to rid the lanes and roads leading into Paulton of litter.

It was organised as always by Pam Leah, who is the inspiration for the group. She made sure signs were put up warning motorists of litter pickers on the roads and that volunteers were provided with high viz jackets, gloves and litter pickers. Pam also contacted B&NES Council to ensure the refuse bags were picked up by them on Monday.

Covering Bath Road, Paulton Hill, Radford Hill and Clandown, an incredible thirty sacks of waste were collected. These included two tyres!

The team assembled as they do each year, but with some new members and children joining in. Paulton B&NES Councillor, Liz Hardman, said: “It was a really good team effort. We were surprised we collected so many sacks of rubbish.

“It just shows community action like this is very much needed. Huge thanks are due to Pam, who organises the whole event.”
