300 Cub Scouts and Leaders from Wansdyke District camped at Chelwood recently, and enjoyed a weekend on a theme of ‘Time Travel’.
The activities on offer included archery, moon-walking, caving simulation, semaphore communication, laser tag, and a climbing wall. The camp was visited by two Viking re-enactment groups, who set up a living village at the camp, complete with animals, and finished with combat training and a ‘battle’.
The campfire on the Saturday was followed by a spectacular fire show by circus performer, Livi Little, at the end of which she turned herself into a human firework!
On Sunday morning, there was a colour run and obstacle course, then it was time to pack up and leave for home. Appropriately, a time capsule was buried during the weekend. Camp Leader, Janet Turner, said: “We’ve all had a brilliant time, despite earlier fears about the weather.”
