After months of training in wind, rain, ice and snow, Becky and Sarah, colleagues at The Journal, put on their trainers (probably not for the final time) and nervously lined up at the start of the Bath Half Marathon last Sunday, 3rd March.

The girls have been campaigning hard in recent weeks to raise an ambitious total of £1,000 for Thornbury-based charity, Hammer Out, which offers vital counselling and support to patients and their families affected by brain tumours. With the help of local quizmaster, Dave Stock, the girls were able to add an extra £300 to the very generous donations they received. Becky said: "Sarah and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated to Hammer Out and supported us along the way and also to the Old Down quizzers and Dave Stock, who took us under their wing! We managed to complete the course in two hours and 35 minutes, despite both of us suffering with our knees – we got through it and we are so proud that we did! Thank you to our wonderful families who kept us going in the cold and to all of our well-wishers. The money is still coming in and our current total is £1,220 – an incredible result! Thank you so very much."
