Local contemporary singing group, Sing Your Heart Out, have had an action-packed Christmas season singing at a variety of local venues, including Rookery Farms’ Christmas Market and St John’s Church, Chilcompton’s, annual carol service.

We began 2019 on the search for a new accompanist following the retirement of Eugenie Hailston, who had been a founder of the choir in 2011, along with Musical Director, Viv Moon. We were thrilled to find Georgie Dayman-Jones, who has quickly become a valued member of the choir, and has allowed us to expand our repertoire and revisit some of our favourites. Our thanks also go to George Pratt, who played for us before heading off to University.

We rehearse on a Wednesday evening from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St John’s Church Hall,

Chilcompton. We meet once a week to learn a variety of numbers from stage and screen, as well as songs by artists such as Queen, Abba, Adele, Simon and Garfunkel and composer, John Rutter. We are a friendly and welcoming bunch and have a passion for singing and making new friends. We sing at a variety of events and venues throughout the year.

This year’s highlights include a joint charity concert with Village Voices Community Choir, singing for groups such as the Farmborough Cameo Club, residents of Leonard Cheshire Home in Timsbury, and performing at the Mad Hatter’s tea party at Chilcompton Church.

We will be holding a ‘Bring a Friend’ evening on Wednesday, 12th, February at 7.30 p.m. for anyone who would like to join to come along and try an evening of fun and singing. Although the ability to read music is useful, it is not essential, and we do not hold auditions. Anyone who wishes to join, or would just like to see what we do, is very welcome at St John’s Church Hall, Chilcompton. Please contact Viv Moon on: 01761 232490 for further information.
