Bath & North East Somerset Council is advising people plan their journeys between 7th-11th November as the A368 through West Harptree will be closed during the day to allow essential resurfacing works to take place.

The works will take place under a full road closure between 7am-7pm. Diversion routes for traffic will be in place and advanced notices have been positioned along the route to warn road users of the closure.

In total 4,260m2 will be resurfaced along the A368 and its junctions with East Harptree Road and the B3144.

This scheme will be the 49th and final scheme on the Council’s 2022 resurfacing programme which began in April.

Councillor David Wood, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services said: “Resurfacing works like this are essential to repair damaged or deteriorating highways and keep our network at a high standard.

“This is a key road through the village and our contractors will work hard to maintain the best access possible for residents, including closing as little of the road as possible at any one time to give access to properties as much as is practical.

“A diversion route is in place which appears long, however this was necessary to safely divert HGVs along similar A-class roads.”

The council expects there to be higher than usual volumes of traffic passing the surrounding villages while these resurfacing works take place and advise planning any journeys ahead of time to avoid delays.
