Westfield’s winning streak continued, with a win over a combined boules team from the Midsomer Norton and District Twinning Association, and their French visitors from Ambares-et-Lagrave.

Two years ago, we were soundly beaten, so this time revenge was sweet! Around sixty people met at Norton Hill recreation ground on a sunny afternoon, for a picnic and some “friendly” games of boules.

It was a pleasure for us to welcome back some old friends from Amberes and their hosts, to share a glass or two, and to catch up on all their news. Unfortunately, as the afternoon wore on, the weather deteriorated, the sun disappeared, and the wind freshened.

Nevertheless, we persevered to the final, which was very competitive, and ended with the bizarre sight of the Westfield Captain presenting the Winner’s Cup to herself! A great afternoon, enjoyed by all.

Tuesday evening boules continue until the end of September, 6 p.m. at Norton Hill recreation ground – everyone is welcome.
