This year, for the second year running, the annual Music Eisteddfod at Llangollen was cancelled because of Covid. Instead, it went digital, though one attraction survived: the sides of the town’s 16th century, 60m bridge have been festooned with 800 quilted squares, a project conceived by the UK artist, Luke Jerram. It will remain on display until August 5th.

This caught the eye of one local business and, not to be outdone, Midsomer Quilting, at Manor Farm, in Chilcompton, has produced its own display (on a slightly smaller scale!) by decking the bridge over the stream that runs through the village on its way to Midsomer Norton. Each of the nine quilts on show, sized up to 9” square, were made and lent by customers of the shop.
