The news everyone has been waiting for broke on Friday afternoon, with a spokesperson for national pub chain, JD Wetherspoon, confirming that after a long wait, the company will finally begin work after Easter.

The Midsomer Norton pub will be named the Palladium Electric in tribute to the old cinema, and has an opening date of September 4th 2018.

Speaking to The Journal this week, Paul Myers, the Mayor of Midsomer Norton, said: “It is fantastic news that JD Wetherspoon are about to start work to redevelop the old Palladium site which has been derelict for far too long.

“This significant investment by a major national brand name will not only bring increased footfall to the town and local jobs, but it also represents a strong vote of confidence in Midsomer Norton.”
