A very good and busy Jumble Sale was held in the Village Hall by the Writhlington Flower Show Committee. The Jumble Sale had it all; vintage and brand new soft furnishings, furniture, china, toys, shoes, ladies’, men’s and children’s clothing and winter coats.
All this, plus two rails of fabulous nearly new clothes, of which many still had labels attached. Accessories to accompany included jewellery and beautiful scarves and handbags.
The Chairman and committee thank everyone for their support and those who donated to the Jumble Sale, and to all the Jumblers who came to find treasurers and bargains. Funds raised will go to support the Annual Flower Show in August.
The Flower Show’s next event will be a Fun Quiz Night arranged for Saturday, 10th March in the Village Hall, 7 p.m. for 7.30 p.m. start. All teams welcome.
Preparations are underway for our Annual 129th Flower Show and Fete on Saturday, 18th August, but the committee are looking forward and preparing with extra fundraising to celebrate the Flower Show’s 130th Show in 2019.
The Writhlington Flower Show was first formed in 1889 by Revd Ramsey, and a committee was formed which became the Cottage Garden Society. New Schedules for this year’s show will soon be available. Anyone wishing to help with any Flower Show event or become a committee member would be very welcome.
For more information, contact any committee member or the Secretary, Helen Gulliford, on: 01761 420417 or the Chairman, Rob Langley, on: 01761 431406. We look forward to seeing you all at the Quiz or on the day of the Flower Show.
