To support the Flower Show and Fete on the 20th August, the committee recently held a well attended quiz night and raffle in the village hall. The winners were The Mind Bogglers, but a mention must go to the runners up by one point, a formidable team of two called Quizzical. Congratulations to our winners and well done to everyone who took part.

The new schedules are now available for our Flower Show and Fete on the 20th August, with some new classes to Celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. These are available from the Premier Stores Writhlington, Fromeway Inn & Fillerup, Marcroft Co-operative Store Radstock, Thomson’s Hardware Radstock, Radstock Library and the Faulkland Inn, or contact the Chairman, Rob Langley: 01761 413406 or the Secretary, Helen Gulliford: 01761 420417 or any committee members. You can also find us on Facebook Writhlington Flower Show.

If you have taken up a new craft or some new hobbies during lock-down, we would love to see them, just take a look at the schedule. Classes for all the family include fruit and vegetables, flowers, photography, children’s classes, cookery, needlecraft and handicraft.

We were sorry to learn that the Editor of The Journal, Becky Brooks is leaving. The Writhlington Flower Show Chairman and committee would like to wish you well in your new challenge, but you will be very much missed by us all and The Journal. Your new employer is lucky to have you and we know you will enjoy this role and do a great job. The committee and myself would like to thank you and the staff at The Journal for all your help, advice and support over the years of the Writhlington Flower Show. We hope you will visit us on show day for tea and homemade cake.

For any more information you can contact the Chairman, the secretary or any committee member.
