A deluge of rain fell on Wednesday evening, half an hour before Writhlington Village Hall presented their Carol Concert.
Undeterred, the hall soon filled up with happy people. We were entertained by the Westfield Voices, who also accompanied the audience for the carols and Christmas music.
Due to come also were the Tabor Bell Ringers, but many of the ringers had been affected by the winter viruses going around and were unable to come. Our soloist, Wendy Scott, who had an emergency at home, was also absent.
However, the Village Hall Committee are used to improvising, and went ahead with a wonderful evening. New to the Carol Concert was Roger Wiltshire, who proved to be a very competent MC for the evening. Mince pies, coffee, tea and mulled wine, kept the kitchen volunteers very busy.
Thank you from the Committee to everyone who performed or took part in any way, for this delightfully happy evening, including the attendance of Reverend Martin.
