Your Letters: One Writhlington resident has written into The Journal appealing to the Fir Tree pub owner after an incident involving the police and fire service.

Dear Editor,

Anti-social behaviour at the Fir Tree pub

I’m writing in regards to the Fir Tree pub or what was the Fir Tree pub, in hope that the owner may read this!

I’ve lived opposite the pub for a number of years now and in those years I’ve seen a lot and heard a lot from over there!

Latest incident on 11/02/24 required a fire engine and several calls to the police!

No matter how many times the owner has it secured the local youths still get in, this time they were taking rubbish from there, putting it in the public bin to which they then set on fire, hence the need for the fire service, which as you know costs the taxpayer a fair amount of money each year, obviously a call out to the fire people at 3am for something that was so pointless to do is such a waste of their time.

The owner had cameras put up but they were hit down the very same night, there have been people climbing on the roof to pinch the lead, windows broken (before they were boarded up).

How long is it going to take to do something with it because someone is going to get hurt in there before long and of course they won’t get the blame it will be the owner!

We have to put up with the noise over there at all times of night regardless if we have to get up for work or not.

Maybe turn it into a place where the kids can have some where to go rather than being out all hours setting fire to things and potentially hurting themselves?

Thank you for reading,

Lynsey Gould
