Terry and Caroline Wynne MBE, from the League of Friends' Paulton Hospital Charity Shop, last week presented hospital staff with new equipment, bought from the shop's proceeds.
The hospital now has two new IV pumps and several subtravenous syringe drivers, which cost £1,000 each. Terry, Caroline and all the volunteers at the shop, located on Paulton High Street, would like to thank all of their customers for their donations. Since moving premises in February this year, they have raised a staggering £7,500 alone.
Terry said: "We are all very proud of the new premises, which has enabled us to continue the fundraising for both Paulton Hospital and our community, and we would like to thank everyone for their support.
"Donations of items are always welcome, in particular, small items of furniture, toys and paperback books. "We will be starting our Christmas Raffle in November, with lots of lovely prizes, along with Christmas cards and decorations for purchasing – a wam welcome will be received from us if you visit.
"Please come along and enjoy a cup of coffee in the café area and the option to purchase homemade marmalade, free range eggs and other items.
"Thank you for continuing to support the Paulton Hospital Charity Shop – without it, we would not be able to purchase important items for the hospital."
The new pumps will allow for a quicker regulation of substances flowing into a patient for a speedier recovery and can be used for a variety of treatments.
Similarly, the new subtravenous syringe drivers will allow nurses to administer small amounts of fluid into patients in a quicker time. They can also be used to
administer more than one injection simultaneously.
Both sets of equipment were gratefully received by the hospital. Mr Wynne added: "On the contrary to what some people may say about the centre of Paulton, the community spirit is still here with us – the heart of the village continues to pump. We are alive and healthy and our shop is doing very well."
