Following the local elections on 4th May, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all your readers who voted for me as their new Lib Dem BANES Ward Councillor for Midsomer Norton North. 

I am humbled and thrilled to be given the opportunity to represent them and will work hard to ensure that Midsomer Norton has a voice in the Council. 

I would like to thank my fellow Lib Dem candidate Katt Howells and the volunteers who worked so hard with leafleting and canvassing. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Shaun Hughes who was re-elected as independent Councillor for this ward.

Over the last six weeks I have spent many evenings talking to hundreds of residents on their doorsteps, listening to the issues that are important to them. Whether it is potholes and parking in Millards Hill, speeding traffic along North Road, improving walking and cycling provision along the Greenway, finding a solution to brownfield sites such as the Stones Cross or the Welton Bag factory on Station Road, or improving the High Street, these all matter to me.

The Lib Dems won a historical victory on May 4th, with 41 Councillors elected, and securing a mandate to work for BANES for another four years. This is the first time that a ruling party in the Council has secured a second term of office.

I will be holding a monthly surgery on the first Saturday of the month between 10am and 12noon at Unit 14 in Midsomer Norton (opposite South Road Car Park).
