One local resident has called out Bath MP Wera Hobhouse for her article in a previous issue of The Journal in which she criticises bus cuts.

Re: your article on bus services. Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Wera Hobhouse is being very hypocritical when calling for Councils to be able to run their own bus services while complaining about recent cuts.

All the services listed which have been or are being lost (179, 185, 668, 757, 754, 768 and 82) were under Council control. The decision not to continue with contracts for these services was made by B&NES, which is headed by the Liberal Democrats. Furthermore, B&NES already have their own bus fleet which is mostly used on school contracts but they were operating service 754 which has been withdrawn. While removing funding for all these rural services, B&NES have found money to keep services 11, 12 & 20 running in Bath, clearly showing the Liberal Democrats have no interest in the areas of B&NES outside of Bath. These were all decisions taken locally, nothing to do with the government.
