One Hallatrow resident has their say on local bus services, and commends Marion Harrington on her recent campaign work.

The problems that elderly residents have by being off the major bus services began years ago.

The planners lacked any long term aims, by building single storey properties as far off the beaten track as they could. A good example of this is in Paulton. I lived here for most of my first thirty years.

As I see it, the 82 Bus is a Godsend for the elderly all along its route.

While on the subject of buses, I am going to write about the new services. The 172 runs between Bath and Bristol. The star of the show is the 522, going from Bristol to Bath. Not only Monday to Friday, but Saturdays and Sundays, plus Bank Holidays; use both services in the same day if you can, while you can.

It makes me smile to read that a lot of locals look upon Tesco as a must. I think a subsidy was paid to first bus to include the store on its route.

I will close with a mention of Marion Harrington; it’s good to read she is still up and running! We lived next door to each other in terraced houses at the long demolished Winterfield Square in Paulton.
