Purnell Bowls Club have been waiting for years to have one of their members selected for one of the Somerset County teams. At last it has happened with 15-year-old Nathan Bowen-Jones being called into the Somerset County Under-25s team to play against Gloucestershire on Sunday. Everyone in the club would like to wish him well on his debut.

On the playing side another mixed bag of results, starting with an excellant win away to Street in the National Top Club competition, 3-rinks to 2, followed by another good win on both rinks home by the A team against Wedmore in the National 2-rink, followed by a win by the B team at home in the same competition against local rivals Norwest, they won on shot difference. The league results last Saturday certainly did not go well. The A team away to Portishead BC could only manage to win on one rink picking up just 2 points. The B team at home to Frome Park only picked up two points having won on one rink, and the C team could only manage a draw on one rink, picking up one point.

The ladies did not do any better, losing on all rinks away to Clevedon Prom in the National Top Club competition.
