Minstrels 37 – Venus 14

Minstrels took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Winning the first quarter 9-6 gave Minstrels the confidence boost which they needed.

The defensive unit of Jemma Plummer (WD), Emma Dury (GD) and Laura Snook (GK) were relentless and didn’t give up, making turnover after turnover. Going into the second quarter Minstrels rectified some of their basic errors and managed to gain a further lead and restrict Venus to only scoring an additional two goals, this quarter ended 20 – 8, with Lily Burgess (GA) and S-J Eyles (GS) constantly converting the turnovers and keeping our goal count going further up. With Tash Moss (WD) coming on in the third quarter we boosted the midcourt with a fresh set of legs and the turnovers kept on coming. Minstrels finished the third quarter 29-12, however they weren’t ready to get complacent and wanted to ensure that they finished the game strongly. The defensive pressure in the final quarter was incredible, with the use of new techniques they were able to turn over plenty of ball, which meant Venus only scored two goals, these turnovers were converted by our shooters and the game was won. An excellent game of netball for Minstrels ready for a season of success. Player’s Player was Laura Snook and Opposition’s Player was S-J Eyles.
