Once again, the Men’s Firsts of Paulton’s Camvale Tennis Club have gained promotion to Division Five of the Avon Summer League, after an outstanding display of tennis on Friday last, beating their closest rivals, Lakeview, 8–2 at home, with just one rubber lost. The players were Mark Goulding, Ryan Harris, Kyran Rotheram and Ian Kitchener. Three of these players are still in their teens.
The Men’s Firsts have now gained promotion three times in the last four years, a great achievement for a small club.
The Men’s Second team also defeated top of the table Backwell Three, winning a close match 6–4. Very sporting games were played, enjoyed by all. Players for Camvale were David Price, Lucas Hawkins, Chris Goulding and Hugh Weeks, who all gave a very strong performance.
Last but not least, Camvale Ladies were away to Saltford Firsts and ran out winners, 8–2. Finishing with 62 points in Division Six of the Avon County Summer League, this may also give the Ladies promotion, depending on other results.
The Ladies who played on Friday were Shelley Reece Langley, Alison Walker, Jen Lemon-Hogarth and Marie Bruckshaw. Well done, girls!
