Welton got back to winning ways with a comfortable win over bottom club, Keynsham Town, on a showery afternoon at West Clewes.
Welton kicked off and soon pressurised the Keynsham goal, with Captain, Chris Peck, leading the charge. A corner for Welton saw Jack Metcalf rise above the defence, only to head his effort into the side-netting.
However, after nine minutes, Welton took the lead with a quality goal. A brilliant throughball from Dan Scrivens found Paul Banks in space and he struck a fantastic shot that roared into the far corner of the net, giving the Keynsham keeper no chance. Welton continued to press for more goals and efforts from James Cooper and Anthony Conradi went close as the visitors' defence struggled to cope with Welton's attacking play. A screamer from Scrivens kept low and glanced the woodwork. Then Keynsham keeper, Matt Dunk, saved well to deny Conradi. A rare attack from the visitors saw Ryan Ashwood's shot saved by Andy King. Just before half-time, Cooper got the ball into the Keynsham net, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
The second half began in dramatic fashion, the visitors kicked off, but their forward pass was immediately intercepted and the ball was delivered to Dan Cottle. Out wide, he attacked the Keynsham goal, beating off challenges and drilled his shot into the Keynsham net to score Welton's second.
This deflated the visitors and Welton were launching attack after attack. Conradi broke through but scuffed his shot and Cooper's good strike on goal was well saved by Dunk and the keeper produced an outstanding save to deny Tom Pawley. Midway through the half, Cottle was brought down in the penalty area and the referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty. Up stepped Conradi, who fired his spot-kick at least twenty feet over the Keynsham bar. Welton Manager brought on Ashley Victor Lewis and Andy Keen and with three minutes to go, Keen scored Welton's third when he rose unmarked in the area to meet a corner and headed the ball into the Keynsham net.
