Timsbury 1st XI’s batting woes continued in their home match with Claverham in the Bristol and District League Senior Division, finishing 49 runs short of their target after dismissing the visitors for 132.

Spinners Sam Hoddinott (3-38) and Jon Strand (4-11) did most of the damage with Kev Sibley lending solid support with 2-31. Jonah Healey’s knock of 42 for the visitors proved the pivotal innings on a difficult pitch that grew increasingly more testing.

In reply, Timsbury suffered an early blow when key batsman Mark Sage was adjudged lbw in the first over and despite a confident innings of 22 from fellow opener Greg Passingham and late resistance from Cory Versfeld and Strand the home side never threatened the Claverham total. Opening bowlers Sam Waring (3-32) and Healey (2-13) made the early inroads and were later well supported by Tom Ashman (3-13) and Adam Hadfield (2-21).

There was no better news for Timsbury second eleven who were beaten by six wickets away to Bristol Aces in the Bristol and District League Division 5. After electing to bat first, Timsbury endured early problems against a strong attack and were eventually dismissed for 110. Captain Ben Hosford was top scorer for the visitors with 29, his son Freddie struck 23 and Sol Thompson contributed 19. Robert Fernandes (4-29) and Anas Ashfaq (3-17) did most of the damage for the home side. The Aces wasted no time in reaching their target knocking off the runs in just over 13 overs for the loss of four wickets. Mithun Murali Girija led the way with 56 with Neil Hulford grabbing a brace of wickets for the visitors.

It was left to Timsbury third XI to keep the flag flying for the club with a six wicket win at home to Hambrook third XI in the Bristol and District League Division 13. After electing to field first Timsbury bowled the visitors out for 88. Nowell (3-8) and Oli Davis (3-3) led the way and there were two wickets each for Tom Alexander and Rawlings. An unbeaten 36 from Tucker and 19 not out from Nowell saw them home with more than 21 overs to spare.
