ENGLAND all rounder Dani Gibson has signed a one-year contract extension which will see her remain at the Cooper Associates County Ground until at least the end of the 2026 season.

A product of the Gloucestershire Pathway, Dani made her debut for Somerset in 2014 at the age of just 13. After a number of successful campaigns, she moved to Wales ahead of the 2019 season.

After making her way through Western Storm’s South West Regional Development Programme, she made her full Storm debut in the 2018 Kia Super League and was part of the squad that lifted the title the following summer.

A former England Academy player, Dani made her full international debut in the 2023 Ashes series. She has since gone on to represent her country on 22 occasions - in T20 cricket, scoring 147 runs with a best of 41 not out and claiming 10 wickets with a best of two for 22.

The right-hander has also played for Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash and London Spirit in The Hundred. In four matches for Somerset in 2025, the 24-year-old scored 103 runs with a high score of 50.

After signing her extension, Dani said: “I’m really excited. Obviously, it was disappointing to miss such a large part of the season, but to get out there at the end was great and I’m looking forward to being around the group more next season.

“I was at as many games as possible, and I know that all the girls were loving life at Somerset. From the members to the staff, everyone’s been really welcoming. It’s an exciting adventure for everyone and we’ve all enjoyed the first year. It really feels like two teams, one Club.

“In 2026 I want to play more games, wear the Somerset shirt more, get some big scores and take some wickets.”

Somerset Director of Cricket,Andy Hurry added: “I’m delighted Dani has extended her contract with Somerset. She has consistently shown her class on the biggest stages, brings so much to the team both on and off the field and can have a significant impact on any game.

“Dani has grown up within the region and knows what it takes to perform at this level and progress beyond, so to have someone in the changing room who can influence and be a role model ,too, is fantastic.

“It’s fantastic that Dani is continuing her journey at Somerset and I’m sure our supporters will be delighted to see her on the park when her England commitments allow.”
