BARROW GURNEY 211-5 KILMERSDON 212-0
Skipper, Mark Batchelar, continued to break records as he completed his third century of the season; the last two in consecutive weeks being both unbeaten.
Killy responded to the home side’s total of 211-5 with a ten-wicket victory, setting up the club’s biggest ever opening partnership and falling just two runs short of the club’s biggest ever stand for any wicket, currently standing at 214 held by Darren Gould and Steve Jackson, who are both still playing members of the club.
Batchelar finished on 104 not-out and his partner, Alex Gardiner on 83 not-out, as the home side were unable to make a breakthrough as the pair saw Killy comfortably home. Earlier in the day, Paul Gard had made 64 for the home side as Harry Humphries chipped in with a couple of wickets, but no-one at this time could have imagined what was to come next from the Killy openers as they rewrote the record books.
This coming Sunday, 14th July, Killy entertain Westerleigh with a 1.30 p.m. start, hoping for another victory to follow up on last weekend’s success.
