KILMERSDON 242 all-out EXILES 150 all-out

Kilmersdon produced a fine all-round team performance to claim victory by 92 runs against Exiles. This result moves Killy into third place in the table, with one match to play.

Batting first under cloudless skies, opening pair, Steve Jackson and Alex Gardiner, quickly got into their stride. Both reached half-centuries before Jackson clipped his own stumps off the bowling of Kyle O’Callaghan for 90, ending a partnership of 171 for the first wicket.

Gardiner then fell for 82 to a smart catch by John Wright in the slips, and there were late cameos from Kieron Gray and Ashley Davis (both 11) as Kilmersdon were dismissed in the final over for 242. Pick of the Exiles’ bowlers were Faizan Asif (4-35) and O’Callaghan (3-38).

The visitors’ reply got off to a brisk start before three wickets in two overs for Archie Graham put Kilmersdon on top. Sam Allard played well for 48 before falling to a smart catch by Gardiner off the bowling of Jackson, but wickets had continued to fall around him as Josh Bond-Kendall, Harry Humphries and Charlotte Hazell all claimed a dismissal apiece.

Leading wicket-taker for the season, Ben Curtis, also added to his haul for the campaign – bowling Brian O’Callaghan for 1, and the final wicket fell to Gray’s very first ball as Exiles were bowled out for 150.

Kilmersdon’s final match of the season takes place this Sunday, 1st September with an away trip to face Blagdon; 1.30 p.m. start.
