Fielding first in searing heat, Killy stuck to their task superbly, restricting their opponents to 179-8 in forty overs, with only some late fierce-hitting from Romail (forty) Qasib (36) and Azan (23) not-out, upping the scoring rate considerably for the home side.
Darren Davis and Alex Gardiner picked up two wickets each with Charlotte Hazell, Harry Humphries and Stephen Jackson all chipping in economically with a wicket apiece.
In response, Killy started steadily, but the loss of openers Stephen Jackson (fifteen) and Ash Davis (eleven) set them back. Mark Batchelar batted superbly for 54 not-out, and Killy fought hard to successfully bat out the overs against a very talented, and often pacey, attack.
It was the first defeat in four games, but a very pleasing, gritty and determined performance by the Killy team. Next we are at home to Blagdon CC on Sunday, 10th June at 2 p.m. The match is kindly sponsored by John Martin Coaches, and we are very grateful for their kind support.
