Timsbury 220-9 Bristol West Indians and Phoenix 222-4

A century from former Gloucestershire batsman, James Pearson, was enough to see Bristol West Indians and Phoenix comfortably chase down a Timsbury total of 220-9 at Rose Green in the Bristol and District League Senior Division. After reaching 173-3, Timsbury will have been disappointed not to have set a tougher target.

The visitors’ challenge owed much to two of their young batsmen. Opener, Adam Brinkworth, again batted well for his 65, which included 7 fours, while Sam Hoddinott celebrated his elevation up the batting order with a confident knock of 53 (7 fours and a six). Both players eventually fell to Vishal Mangai, whose spell of 5-20 proved crucial.

When BWI & P batted, Hoddinott had an early breakthrough but that brought Pearson to the crease and he showed all his class to strike an undefeated 108 with 16 fours. He received good support from Nick Clark (36), Jack Baber (28) and Barry Gayle (25) as the home side reached their target with more than eight overs to spare.

This week Timsbury have another important fixture when they entertain league leaders, Pak Bristolians.
