A thrilling five wicket win away to North Perrott saw Timsbury once again crowned county champions in the Davidstow National Village Cup. Needing 15 to win from the last over, the visitors grabbed victory with a boundary from Jesse Bishop from the final delivery of the match.
Rain delayed the start of the match and in the end, it was decided to play a 20 over game. Having won the toss, Timsbury skipper Steve Clothier had no hesitation in electing to field first. Opener and wicketkeeper, Jamie England, was the mainstay of the home challenge of 142-3 batting throughout the 20 overs for an undefeated 68. Jon Strand was involved in all three of the home dismissals taking 2-42 from his five overs and instigating the run out of opener Gordon Whorlow.
Positive batting at the top of the order from Mark Sage (32), Strand (29) and Jack Williams (29) set Timsbury on their way, but in the end, it came down to the sixth wicket pairing of Bishop and Nathan Hawkins to see Timsbury through to the last 32 of the competition and a home fixture this coming Sunday against the Dorset &Wiltshire champions, Goatacre. Stacy Hawes was the pick of the home attack with 2-10 from 3 overs.
