BRADLEY STOKE 186–8 TIMSBURY 189–2
Timsbury made it three wins out of four with a comprehensive eight-wicket victory away to newly-promoted Bradley Stoke in the Bristol and District League Senior Division. Chasing a total of 186-8, they reached their target with more than fourteen overs to spare.
After being put into bat, the home side reached 90–1, with opener, Tom Laver, leading the way with 45. However, two wickets fell on that total, including Laver’s, and thereafter Timsbury maintained a firm grip on the game. Ashley Baber made 31 and Ahmed Farouk 21, with Neil Hucker Timsbury’s most successful bowler with 3–26.
In response, Timsbury soon lost Gary Pearcy, but this brought Mark Sage and Jon Strand together, and they soon made light of the challenge. Strand celebrated his elevation in the batting order with a positive knock of 61 that included nine fours and one six, before he was bowled by Baber after a second wicket partnership of 132. Sage continued on his merry way, finishing undefeated with ninety, including fourteen fours, and Graeme Webb joined him to complete the job with a quickfire twenty. Next week, Timsbury hope to maintain their strong start to the season with a home game against Frenchay.
