A battling innings of 59 from Graeme Webb was not enough to raise the spirits of Timsbury 1st XI who were beaten by twenty seven runs away to Coalpit Heath in the Bristol and District League Senior Division.

Chasing a total of 147, Webb followed up his match winning innings of 68 three days earlier away to Temple Cloud in the Somerset Intermediate Cup with another strong performance, but he received scant support in another disappointing reversal.

The Timsbury attack had done its job earlier in the match. Joe Kinnear, in his first game of the season for the senior side, took three early wickets to finish with 3-17. Webb finished with 3-32 and Jon Strand bowled a tight spell despite not taking any wickets.

Opener Chris Cooke anchored the Coalpit Heath innings with a dogged knock of 38. Webb did his best to see Timsbury over the line but only Sol Thompson and Strand managed double figures and despite looking on course for victory at certain stages the visitors fell away badly.

There was much better news for Timsbury second eleven who overwhelmed Bath 4th XI at the school field to win by 200 runs in the Bristol and District League Division Five.

Batting first, Timsbury amassed an imposing total of 309-4. Rob Clothier led the way with an undefeated 60, Tristan Versfeld made 50, Paul Cracknell 47 and Olli Davis 42. In reply, only Luke Welsh with an undefeated 32 showed any real resistance as the Bath side were dismissed for 109. Zak Cox took 4-25, Martin Richards 3-16 and Sam Hoddinott 2-25.

Timsbury third XI kept up their good run with a tense fourteen run victory away to Oldfield Park in the Bristol and District League Division Thirteen.

The victory was set up by an excellent opening stand between Dave Nowell (79) and captain Laurie Jones (51) with Ben Smith on his return from university adding a breezy undefeated 49 late on as the visitors finished on 218-4. Oldfield Park made a good response with Scott Wright (67) and Martin Betty (38) keeping their side in touch but Jones (4-39) and Smith (3-26) recorded impressive all-round displays to see Timsbury over the
line.
