Well, what an absolutely brilliant week for Norwest Bowls Club. Five League games and five wins. It can’t get much better than that! Our week started off with a busy green on Monday evening with bowlers taking part in the 101 league and various club games, some of which were extremely entertaining and kept us guessing right until the last end.

The first of our Ladies League games was in the Wild League and was played at home on Tuesday against Frome Selwood under gloomy skies. The rain held off and our Ladies claimed the first win of the week, 10–2. In contrast, our Ladies set off on Thursday in high spirits and glorious sunshine for a North Somerset League game at Stothert and Pitt’s green, claiming an 8–2 victory.

On Friday evening, once again, we met the bowlers of Stothert and Pitt when they came to Norwest for a Mixed Mid-Somerset League game looking for revenge after their defeat by our Ladies. It was not to be and after a great evening, both on and off the green, Norwest claimed eight of the twelve points on offer.

With three league wins under our belt, expectations were high on Saturday when both our A and B teams met up on our green for their County League East games.

There’s a real buzz on the green when both our Men’s teams play their League games at home on a Saturday and this week was no exception. The A team were pitted against bowlers from Imperial Bowls Club, while the B team were up against Weston, Bath bowlers, and continuing in winning form they won their games 12–0 and 11–1 respectively.

Unfortunately, on Sunday, the wheels fell off when members of Trowbridge Bowls Club visited us for a friendly! Whether the excitement of the week got to us or we were just all bowled out, I don’t know, but this time, the victory went to Trowbridge. Still you can’t win them all and hopefully our success in the league games will continue next week!
