A heavy downpour got the pre-season game underway between Paulton and Premier Division side, Odd Down on Tuesday.

Odd Down started the game brightly, creating a number of chances. They were rewarded for their efforts, receiving a penalty in the fifteenth minute which was calmly slotted home to put the home side ahead.

Paulton grew into the game and started to create chances for themselves and it wasn’t long until Harley Prior equalised with a great strike from just outside the box.

This was followed up by another great strike from Harley after some nifty footwork allowed him to beat a number of players before finishing well into the bottom corner.

The game was still open with both teams playing some very good quality football when Paulton’s Kai Williamson, who had been causing problems for the Odd Down defence, latched onto a loose ball from a

corner to double the lead for the visitors.

Half-time, Paulton replaced their whole eleven players during the break.

The second half started and there was a number of chances for both sides, Tom Ovigne was looking lively down the right for Paulton, however, it was Odd Down who came closest first, hitting the crossbar from 30 yards and also having a goal cleared off the line by 15-year-old Rob Smith, who played his first ever U18 fixture along with a few others, who all put in some impressive performances.

Paulton managed to find a fourth, a fantastic delivery from the left by James Harding was met by Ovigne who perfectly executed his volley back across goal to make the score 4–1.

Thanks to Odd Down for hosting and we wish them all the best for the upcoming season. Josh Hurst
