Purnell U14 girls welcomed Clevedon on a wet and miserable morning for the start of their season. Purnell started off slowly, and Clevedon caught them on the break to score the first goal.
This seemed to wake up the girls, and Purnell fought back with a brace from Alice. Evie added a third Purnell goal after some great work on the right wing, before Clevedon swept home their second of the game. Half-time was quite evenly poised at 3-2 to Purnell.
A switch of goalie, and shuffle of the back line and midfield, and Purnell started the second half brightly. Jasmine and Monica worked hard up front to create chances, and Jasmine hit a great strike which rebounded off the inside of the post and came back out, causing some confusion before the referee awarded a goal.
Purnell pushed on again, with Mia and Evie particularly dangerous out on the wings. Jasmine and Evie both scored their second goals of the match, before Alice scored a beautiful chip to finish off the match and complete her hat-trick.
The final score was 7-2 to Purnell. Player of the Match went to Alice for her excellent box-to-box work rate in the second half and for her hat-trick.
