Radstock Town FC 5 Bishop Sutton 1

Sixth took on nineteenth under the lights at Southfield on Friday night, and with Bishop Sutton being able to field a strong side for the first time in a number of weeks, the home supporters knew that their side would need to be at their best if they were going to avenge the 4–0 mauling they got in the reverse fixture back in September.

The pitch was heavy following some serious downpours during the day, and was bound to cut up, but both sides looked to play a high tempo passing game. For the first twenty minutes neither side could find a clear cut chance on goal, although Kyle Tooze did put the ball in the Miners’ net, but was ruled offside and Chris Manns spread himself well to save from Morgan Marsh.

The home side took the lead midway through the half when they won a corner at the Writhlington end, and from Morgan Skipp’s cross, visiting Keeper, Chris Manns, could only help Jack Biddescombe’s header over the line in his attempt to save.

It was 1–0 at half-time and a fairly even game, but all that changed within five minutes of the restart. Morgan Marsh took advantage of a moment of indecision in the visiting defence to stab the ball home and two minutes later, Morgan Skipp was on hand to score when he capitalised on some poor defending.

The visitors gave themselves a glimmer of hope on the hour mark when they headed in from a corner, but thoughts of a fightback were soon squashed when in the seventieth minute, Mason Harrison was cynically brought down in the box and James Rustell stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way from the resultant penalty.

The scoring was complete on eighty minutes when substitute, Pele Sobers, outpaced the defenders and then crossed with pin-point accuracy to his brother, Rico, who duly smashed the ball into the net.

A comprehensive win and an electric performance that saw the side move up to third and with games in hand, who knows what this side can achieve!

Man of the Match was central defender and Captain, Luke Ingram.
