Paulton lost to bottom club, Bishops Cleeve, after dominating possession and finishing the match with nine men.

The home side could have gone ahead on six minutes, as Ieuan Crowe played the ball wide to left-winger Jack Watts, whose cross was headed against the crossbar by Ollie Butler.

Rovers responded shortly afterwards, as Liam Monelle cut in from the left and drove the ball narrowly wide. Then, from a Josh Morgan Williams corner, Joe Hillard headed wide.

Bishops Cleeve took the lead as Crowe hit a superb strike from 22 yards that flew into the net.

Paulton levelled two minutes after the restart, as Morgan Williams swerved in a lovely cross from the right for Jack Ball to head home.

Four minutes later, Ball was shown a second yellow for what appeared to be an attempt to get on the end of a 50/50 ball, colliding with ‘Mitres’’ keeper, Sam Gilder.

On 63 minutes, and against the run of play, a deep-cross from left-back Ben Atkin was dropped by Rovers’ keeper, George Burton, and Joe Bate tapped the ball into the net.

Worse was to follow six minutes later, as Hilllard fouled Crowe and Bates converted the resultant penalty to make it 3-1.

Monelle and Omar Simpson tried desperately to get their side back in the game, and Monelle was rewarded on 82 minutes as he fastened on to a long-ball by Burton and hammered the ball home.

In added time, Burton raced forward to add his height at a corner which was cleared and as the ball broke to Crowe, Burton rugby-tackled him, adjudged deliberated serious foul play, and was shown a straight red card.
