Welton Rovers’ Assistant Manager, Malcolm Beck, featured in a recent edition of the Toolstation Western League Podcast, following his side’s 2-1 win over promotion-chasing Keynsham Town.
In the interview, Malcolm reflected on a forty-year love affair with the Green Army, where he’s spent time as a player, a manager and now Assistant to current boss, Nick Beaverstock.
It’s been something of a rollercoaster for Malcolm and Nick since they took over from Clive Scott on Boxing Day. Since the turn of the year, Welton have lost to Cheddar twice, but beaten second-place Keynsham Town, not to mention a memorable victory over Bath City in the Somerset Premier Cup.
Looking ahead, Welton are preparing for a Somerset Cup Quarter-Final against Southern League Premier Division leaders, Taunton Town, on Wednesday, 13th March.
In a typically candid interview, Malcolm expressed his frustration at a decline in the level of commitment shown by modern players and talked about the standards he and Nick Beaverstock expect from their Welton Rovers squad.
