Keynsham 2nd XI 202–9 Timsbury 204–1
A superb opening stand of 174 between Mark Sage and Adam Brinkworth saw Timsbury on the way to a stunning nine wicket win at home to Keynsham 2nd XI in the Bristol and District League Senior Division. Chasing what looked a decent total of 202–9, Timsbury reached their target with more than fifteen overs to spare.
After being put into bat, Keynsham lost early wickets to the bowling of Alex Young (2–39) and Sam Hoddinott (2–49), but a determined knock of 54 from Alex Taylor in partnership with Ben Whittington (25) saw a partial recovery before another quick fall of wickets saw the visitors sink to 148–9. A sensible last wicket unbeaten stand of 54 between teenager,
Jack Tweedie, son of former Timsbury batsman, Pete.
John Courtney then frustrated the home side and set a challenging total. Tweedie was 26 not out and Courtney was undefeated on 20. A fine spell of bowling from Jon Strand saw him finish with the figures of 4–28 from his nine overs.
Sage and Brinkworth then made nonsense of the run chase. Playing aggressive, but responsible cricket, they maintained a high run rate throughout. Sage was eventually caught for a magnificent 115 which included fifteen fours and five sixes while Brinkworth gave excellent support with a fine undefeated knock of 65 with ten fours.
