Walking football sessions will be kicking off at Welton Rovers in Midsomer Norton in December.
The sessions, aimed at the over-fifties, will run every Thursday from 12 noon – 1 p.m., from December 3rd. Sessions will be on a pay-as-you-play basis.
Described as ‘the beautiful game, only slower’, walking football is one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports for the over fifties. The skills, tactics and all of the rules of walking football are the same as the speeded-up version of the sport, but
walking football has one rule, which if broken means a free kick – no running is allowed.
The sessions are being organised by local charity, Age UK B&NES and will be run by coach, Nick Dewfall, from Inclusive Sport and Fitness, who already runs popular sessions in Bath and Keynsham.
Nick said: “The sessions will be very sociable and relaxed – they’re ideal for keeping fit, helping you to recover from injury or just a chance to have fun.”
Anyone interested can turn up on the day, ensuring that they are wearing sensible clothing for exercise and football boots if they have them.
Tea and coffee will be available after each session at Welton Rovers. To find out more, please call: 07411 013516 or email: [email protected]
