Timsbury’s recent poor Away form continued when they lost by the odd goal in five at Long Ashton, in this Division One East of the Somerset Senior League game.
Timsbury did not get off to the best of starts when needlessly conceding an early free kick on the edge of the box, which Dorrington despatched into the corner of the net, giving Scrivens in the Timsbury goal no chance.
The home side’s lead lasted ten minutes before Cook evaded the last defender to leave himself through on goal, his shot was well saved by Wright, but he managed to push the ball into the path of Lutwama, who made no mistake to make the score.
Harraway almost restored the lead immediately, when his shot from twenty yards curled just wide of the goal. The pace of Cook and Blannin was a constant threat to the Long Ashton defence, and they were thankful to keeper Wright, who made a double-save from both to keep the scoreline level.
The home side’s front two of Lawrence and Harraway were equally as effective, with the head of Harraway forcing Scrivens into a fine save late on, but despite further chances at both ends it remained level at half-time.
Timsbury were awarded a free kick early in the second half in a similar position to that which Long Ashton converted. However, this time Lutwama’s shot was easily saved by Wright.
A corner from the right caused problems for the home defence, with Brook’s shot rebounding to Bishop, who flashed the ball across the face of the goal, evading everyone. Timsbury continued to press but the home defence held firm.
Then, against the run of play, a clearance was picked up on the left by Dyer, and his run on goal was only thwarted by the outstretched leg of Bishop, resulting in an obvious penalty. Harraway despatched the spot kick to make it 2-1.
Timsbury struggled initially to respond to this setback, despite creating chances, but failed to trouble Wright in the home goal. Then with fifteen minutes remaining, a free kick from Heatley found Taylor free in the box to head high into the net to make it 2-2.
Finally, Timsbury showed some urgency in pressing for the winner, but it was the home side who had the final say. Another clearance left Timsbury short at the back, allowing Harraway to run on goal, but his shot ricocheted off a defender for a corner, then from the resulting cross, Harraway rose highest to head home and collect all three points.
