The husband and wife team of Geoff and Linda Hallett stole the honours when the Fosseway Senior golfers' section held its annual Mixed Puttsomes competition.

Their nett score of 40.5 saw them lift the Joe Hawkins Cup in an event that sees the male partner play all the shots to the green, with the ladies in charge of the putting. Mary Case was the leading individual lady, followed by Anne Reeves and Dilys Edgell. John Williams was top dog in the men's section, with Howard Nowell, runner-up, and Henry Thomas, third.

Thanks go to Colin Moon, Captain Ray Lake and Rod Bruce for organising another successful day with an excellent barbecue to follow.

Earlier in the week, the Seniors took part in the annual triangular contest with Shortwood Lodge and Minchinhampton. Shortwood made the most of home advantage to win the event and Fosseway had to settle for third place. There is a chance of revenge on Thursday, when Fosseway return to Shortwood for the social fixture against popular opponents. In the earlier match at Fosseway, Shortwood were beaten 4–2.
