Fosseway Seniors September Medal competition was almost abandoned when an out-of-control dog threatened to cause havoc. Fortunately, the owner managed to restrain his pet and order was restored.
The disruption had little impact on 'Big Bob' Smith who used his Allcock driver to maximum effect to record a staggering net 56 to win the Medal by nine shots from second-placed Howard Nowell, with John Bendle coming in third with a net 66.
On a glorious Wiltshire afternoon, the Seniors match at Woodbridge Park ended in an honourable 3–3 draw. Terry Button and Allen Cheney (2&1), Rod Bruce and John Bendle (2&1) and Pete Fitch and Howard Nowell (4&3) brought home the bacon for Fosseway, whilst Gerry Rowell and Colin Moon (5&3), Cyril Blacker and Mike Ricketts (two down) and Frank Reeves and Malcolm Hamblin (two down) were pigs' trotters.
