The country’s recent sporting performances know no bounds. With England’s cricket, rugby union and rugby league teams producing exceptional results.

A fantastic ICC T20 cricket World Cup final saw England overcome a spirited performance from Pakistan to win by 5 wickets. A brilliant achievement. England are the only team to be holding both the 50 over and 20 over World Cups at the same time. England’s 24 year old Sam Curran was awarded player of the tournament.

However, there was heartbreak in the rugby union World Cup final with Englands ‘Red Roses’ women narrowly losing to New Zealand 34-31.

In the rugby league World Cup semi final England lost to Samoa by the odd point 27-26.

On an only slightly less exciting front, Farrington Park Seniors competed in a non qualifying Stableford competition which attracted a good entry of 74 players. A mild morning with only a slight wind to contend with and no waterproofs required. I call that a result!
