The first Medal competition of the year was greeted by an extremely cold morning, but thankfully we were all appropriately dressed for the occasion. The sun did eventually poke its head out, but the slight breeze was bitter enough to keep the several layers of clothing undisturbed.
A Medal competition does seem to dissuade some of us from participating, which is totally understandable. All of us at some stage have racked up a double digit score on a hole. One hole played badly can totally wreck your score, but at the end of the day, it is just a game of golf and not a life-changing event.
The overall winner of the March Medal was David Cross, with a gross 93 net 64.
Division One: First place went to Bob Baker; net 68, second went to Dave Brain; net 72, third went to Andy Snook; net 70.
Division Two: First place was Lee Francis, with net 67, second went to Alan Elkington, with net 69, third place went to Michael Rogers, with net 72.
Division Three: In first place was David Cross with net 64, second place was Roger Stone with net 67, third went to Mark Howell with net 71.
The Seniors had success away from home at Stockwood Vale, winning by 5.5 – 1.5. Two games played and two games won. Keep it up. Rob Thain
