Mendip Ladies Seconds lost 2-1 to a well-drilled Keynsham team.
Mendip went up 1-0 after an excellent short-corner routine from Jess Baird. Mendip went into the second half feeling strong, with Keynsham unfortunately scoring two from outfield play, leaving the scoreline at 2-1 to Keynsham.
Player of the Match went to Jess Baird for her excellent defensive skills and goal from the short-corner, closely followed by Katie Browning and Kate Penn for their strong defensive play.
Oenone Bodman-HarrisMENDIP LADIES 3rds 2 KEYNSHAM LADIES 2nds 1After a long Christmas break, Mendip Thirds came back on flying form against a physical and competitive Keynsham side.During the first half, Mendip passed the ball nicely, creating several attacking opportunities, whilst handling any counter-attacks at the back with confidence.In the second half, Mendip continued to press hard, driving the ball down both wings, putting Keynsham under continued pressure. Patience and cool headedness paid off when Carol Holmes drove home the first goal superbly. Mendip continued to rattle Keynsham, both on and off the pitch, and a great second goal came courtesy of a fantastic finish by Sarah Pearce.Keynsham tried to fight back, but the Mendip backline of Lucy Hemings, Sarah James, Grace and Emma were equal to the task, with keeper, Dani, clearing anything that did get through. Player of the Match was Carol Holmes, a great asset to the team who had brilliant game, closely followed by Phoebe, Becky, Hattie and Lucy.Overall, a fantastic team performance, showing skill, commitment, grit and composure.
