Mendip won their penultimate league game on Saturday to edge closer to the Central Division Two title. Mendip’s goals came from Josh Sutton and Jake Rowe, who scored two.

Table-topping Mendip faced second-place Weymouth on Saturday, and in an end-to-end game, neither side could find the decisive goal.

Mendip’s player of the Match was keeper, Leanne Chapman, who cleared her lines with confidence to ensure the valuable league point, which takes Mendip a step closer to the East Division title.

This Saturday, Mendip have an early trip to mid-table Marlborough (9.45 a.m.)

GILLINGHAM 7 MENDIP LADIES SECONDS 2

On the back of three straight wins, Mendip travelled to Gillingham on Saturday expecting a close game. However, thanks to some clinical finishing from Gillingham’s experienced centre forward, Mendip found themselves on the end of a disappointing defeat.

Excellent first half goals from Mendip’s, Sally Stanford and Connie Glover ensured that Mendip were still in the game at the half-time whistle, but Gillingham pushed on to clinch third place in Wessex One.

This week, Mendip face top of the league Frome at Chew Valley (1.30 p.m.).

NAILSEA 2 MENDIP LADIES THIRDS 2

Mendip secured their position in Brunel Division Two on Saturday, with a hard-earned point at Nailsea. Youngster, Emily Weale and experienced campaigner, Carol Holmes, scored the Mendip goals, in what proved to be a nail-biting game for both teams and their supporters. This week, Mendip are at home to Wells Acorns (10.30 a.m.)

Mendip find themselves four points clear at the top of West Central Two after a comfortable away win at Westbury.
