A large crowd assembled at Norton Down to watch the last senior home game of the 2014–15 season, the Semi-Final of the Bath Combination Plate competition against Oldfield Old Boys.

Full of confidence from their two victories within the last seven days, including winning the Somerset Vase, (see Page 29), the side started quickly scoring two quick tries. The first was started from an intercept by winger, Rideout, who then offloaded out of the back of his hand to Richard Martin, who beat the remaining defence to score. Flanker, Joe Button, soon increased the lead to ten points. Alex Mitchard was next to score, crashing through would-be tacklers to score near the posts, which was converted by Ben Taylor.

The side tired after thirty minutes and let Oldfield back into the game and went into the half-time break drawing 17–17. Refreshed after a few minutes' rest in the break, the home team scored three more tries – the first by their Captain, Denning, who picked up at the back of a scrum and crashed through one defender to score from five metres out. Button added his second, beating a number of defenders before crossing the line. Ben Tayor added a penalty goal to the conversions. Centre, Mitchard, picked a good line and beat the Oldfield defence, collecting his second try.

Norton's last try came from a backs move which saw Mitchard being used as a dummy runner, enabling his centre partner, Martin, to get on the outside of his defender to outrun him and score his second of the day.

The side is now looking forward to the Bath Combination Plate Final, to be held at the Rec, 6.15 p.m. on Wednesday, 6th May.
